I am so confused. What is this show trying to be? And who the snet is the target audience? For the first thirty seconds, I thought I was watching Princess Tutu. And then it became...I don't know. I thought maybe it was meant to be a comedy. The inadequate house crew, the random old man butler who does nothing but sip tea, a demanding young master, and a butler who can do anything? The gardener and chef are completely silly, and the megane dojikko meido is straight out of a harem romance comedy. But the mood music, dark themes, and random mental torture of the visitor don't mesh up at all with any of the previous. I'm not really sure what this story is trying to be at all. The animation is pretty, and the music is nice. But the story is all over the place, and I'm so confused as to what's really going on. I'm not very drawn in, either. I like butlers (especially the kind that can catch bullets), young boys (not like THAT), eyepatches, and somewhat supernatural creepy houses, but for some reason this really isn't clicking with me.
I totally thought that this game would be the best version of EXTREME DREIDEL JUMANJI EVER. And then it was. :D All the weird things the guy landed on like "loss of limbs" and "burnt at the stake" came true (although in a less death inducing manner). Definitely a lot of creepy going on, but I guess I don't really get the point.Of course, the title character is the most confusing of all. He's a butler named Sebastian, which made me giggle a bit (thanks to Konata). But after seeing all his mad skills, it's hard to tell who he really is...
OH SNET IT'S LELOUCH.
And since I'm here...let's just round it out by saying a series with Lelouch acting as butler to Itsuki is something of a Jun Fukuyama overload.
Okay, I'm done now.
I guess.

LOL @ the Tutu reference. XDD Naked people in falling feathers ftw!
Yeah... I do like some elements of this series, but even though the art is gorgeous, the jumps between serious and slapstick are sometimes too sudden. Though I've heard that the hired help's complete incompetence is partially explained, their total failure is overused to the point where it becomes droll.
But I love the darker elements.
lol.
at first i do admit that it seems to be a mis-matched comedy... it's a show that you're probably better off reading the basic plot line before you watch it. nevertheless, though it all seems fun and games, i think this is one of the most intense drama trauma animes ever.. and they do it with a lot of comedy and an amazing demon butler.. i would love to have sebastian as my butler.. except i would hate for him to want to eat my soul. i did love the relationship between the two main roles. ciel comes across as a very timid boy but in reality is really smart, whereas sebastian is perfection in its fullest form and is admittedly devoted to ciel. i did hate the fact that the anime decided to deviate from the manga plot line and give the story and end. i think that the ending could have been better. i was a bit surprised about the sebastian "sex" scene... it did seem a bit out of character. though i do admit that the characters were created with a lot of details.. if you continued to watch, the inadequate crew of house staff turns out to not bet hat inadequate at all.. i did hate the fact that pluto did die at the end... who doesn't like a monster who can become a human ^_^ but the story was still superb... and sebastian was the perfect butler to the end..
