Kuroshitsuji Ep. 02

Ciel invites fat Hitler, a Chinese pimp, Carmen Sandiego, some guy from from Black Lagoon and a some dude who I can't think of anything snarky to say about over for a pool party. The billiards kind. Meanwhile, the three incompetent servants are chasing some mice around. Sebastian, of course, manages to take care of the mice in style. Ciel gets kidnapped by the Black Lagoon dude and put in some meaningless showy bondage while a sniper goes after Sebastian. He escapes the bullet (unsurprisingly) and takes off after the guys who kidnapped Ciel. He manages to defeat a horde of mafia-like dudes by throwing plates and silverware at them. In the end, Ciel is held hostage until he allows himself to be shot dead. Except he comes back to life Baccano! style and does unspeakable dark things to the guy who kidnapped Ciel.

This show is still so jilting. The random comedy and the darker elements don't mix very well at all. The humorous parts and pretty funny, but mixing them in among the darker elegant mood really feels out of place. Another episode with a little bit of plot, but not much to draw me in. The characters who Ciel invited look interested, and I'm hoping they get a lot more development in the future. The production qualities are just as nice. The music is suitable, and the animation is very beautiful and elegant. I really want to like this series, but the mood keeps changing on me, and I haven't really seen anything to make me care that much about the characters or where they're going. More of Sebastian's are revealed, which is pretty cool. His abilites and connection to Ciel are certainly intriguing. But his utter perfection and Ciel's bratty attitude make it hard to really care about either of them. ^_^;; I'm sure a nice long plot will kick in soon enough, though.

Sometimes, it's just too easy. : /
